Description
Vignoble du Rêveur is the personal project of Mathieu Deiss, son of Jean-Michel Deiss, continuing a family tradition of expressive, terroir-driven Alsace wines. Based in Bennwihr, Mathieu works biodynamically, often experimenting with skin contact, co-fermentations, and natural winemaking to produce highly distinctive cuvées. Pierres Sauvages 2022 blends Pinot Gris, Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc and a touch of Pinot Noir (white vinified), crafted in large foudres and aged a year on lees. The result is a bone-dry white with spiced pear aromas, juicy fruit, firm extract and a refreshing, savory finish.

| Review: | The 2022 Pierres Sauvages is a blend of all the Pinots of the domaine, mostly Auxerrois and Pinot Gris, with small supplements of Pinot Blanc, macerated on skins and white vinified Pinot Noir. The wine was made in foudre and stayed for a year on lees. There is an immediate touch of spice, almost like peppery gingerbread, amidst a juicy, ripe pear note. The palate is rounded with ripe fruit of Pinot Gris, but this fill of juiciness is held by a lovely structure and extract. The finish is dry and fresh. (Bone-dry) |
