Description

Telmo Rodríguez, one of Spain’s most respected winemakers, is known for restoring historic terroirs. Lanzaga is his flagship red from Rioja Alavesa, a field blend anchored by Tempranillo with Garnacha and Graciano, crafted from organically farmed bush vines. The 2020 vintage—a challenging, storm-affected year—yielded a concentrated, energetic wine with depth and tension. Aged in a mix of foudres and barrels, it exemplifies modern Rioja rooted in tradition and place.

Review:The expressive and open 2020 Lanzaga comes from a rainy and stormy vintage (from the eighth of May until the end of August) and an early harvest, as they started the 21st of September. It's a riper year than 2019, and the wine has 14.5% alcohol. It's juicy and has some tannins that are going to require some more time in bottle and/or powerful food. 34,434 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022.
