Description

David & Nadia are a benchmark name in Swartland — known for their old-vine Grenache and precision blending. Elpidios, their flagship red, takes its name from the Greek word for “hope” and reflects a Mediterranean approach to Cape blends: Grenache-dominant, layered, and light on its feet. The 2021 vintage is their finest yet, receiving RP96 from Wine Advocate and praised for its balance, spice, and food-pairing potential. It’s a blend of 61% Grenache Noir, supported by Syrah, Carignan, Pinotage and Cinsaut, with 12 months in old foudres and barrels.

Reviewer:Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate (Robert Parker)
Review:The Grenache-dominant 2021 Elpidios begins with a bright nose of dark cherry skin with hints of herbal elements before expressing dusty red flowers. Medium-bodied, the palate offers a savory, spiced tart plum essence before notions of potpourri spice sway with succulent acidity and fine-grained tannins. This beauty ends with a delightfully food-friendly finish that has me craving duck breast and wild game. It's the best Elpidios yet! Begin drinking in 2024.
