Description

Wagner-Stempel has quietly become one of the Rheinhessen’s most thrilling addresses for dry Riesling, with Heerkretz as its crown jewel. This GG hails from 20-year-old vines rooted in volcanic porphyry soils, giving the wine its signature cut and crystalline structure. The 2023 vintage is electric—layered with bergamot, flint, citrus oils and saline drive. For those seeking clarity, tension and mineral brilliance, this is a benchmark Grosses Gewächs and one of the top values at this quality level.

Review:The 2023 Riesling Siefersheimer Heerkretz Grosses Gewächs comes from around 20-year-old parcels on porphyry. Vivid bergamot and flint are deliciously heady on the nose, going straight to the sinuses and spelling pleasure. The palate is vivid, citric, tangy, pristine and so stony, salty and linear. A gentle sense of pith propels this forward, filling all the senses with heightened citrus tones. What a ride. (Bone-dry)
