Description
Lucien Aviet—known locally as Bacchus—was one of Jura’s most respected old-school vignerons, and his son Vincent continues the domaine’s low-intervention legacy in Arbois. The “Cuvée des Géologues” is a Trousseau from the marl-dominant Les Bruyères vineyard, known for giving ethereal, pale wines of great delicacy and lift. The 2023 vintage is a picture of restraint: just 12.5% alcohol, beautifully perfumed, and aged in old oak. Bottled in July 2024, it captures the freshness and brightness of the vintage, offering a more floral and fine-boned alternative to their more structured Rosières bottling. Only 3,000 bottles were made.

| Review: | The 2023 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Les Bruyères is very pale and ethereal, with a different profile, more finessed and elegant. The soils here have more marl and tend to produce more elegant wines than Rosiére, where the profile is more powerful. It has only 12.5% alcohol in a year when the wines had less alcohol and more acidity. It's perfumed, elegant and harmonious, even if it was very recently bottled. It has a fresh profile, pretty much the character of the year, without the tannins from 2022. It's approachable now but should also age well in bottle. 3,000 bottles. It was bottled in July 2024. |
