Benedicte & Stephane Tissot En Barberon Chardonnay 2022 (Ouillé)
Vibrant, mineral and alive – from limestone-rich Lias soils
Tissot made this without any added sulfur—the only 2022 Chardonnay he trusted to stand alone. From one of Jura’s top terroirs, it bursts with citrus, energy and that unmistakable Tissot tension.
“RP92–95 – citrus and appley aromas, faintly reductive… long way to go”

Description
En Barberon is one of Tissot’s cult Chardonnay parcels, grown on Jurassic Lias clay-limestone. In 2022, it was vinified sans soufre (no added sulfur)—a first for Tissot in this cuvée, revealing purity, energy and minerality. Still very young, it’s showing citrus and orchard fruit with a touch of reduction, and promises incredible finesse with some time in bottle.

| Review: | The 2022 En Barberon Chardonnay comes from Lias soils and did not have sulfur added at all (the only Chardonnay from 2022 that he could handle like that), and in June 2023, only one barrel of it had finished fermentation. It has citrus and appley aromas, faintly reductive. It still has a long way to go… |
