Abel Mendoza has built his reputation on exploring Rioja’s full spectrum of native grapes, both red and white. The “5V” (Cinco Variedades) is his signature white, a meticulous blend of Viura, Malvasía, Tempranillo Blanco, Torrontés, and Garnacha Blanca. Each grape contributes a facet: freshness, aromatics, structure, or depth. The 2023 vintage shows Mendoza’s precision, delivering a wine that is clean, balanced, and focused, combining elegance with power. With just 5,400 bottles produced, this rare Rioja Blanco stands as a benchmark.

Review:When done correctly, the blend can be better than the individual parts, and the 2023 5V is a good example of it, taking advantage of the best characteristics of each of the five varieties, 30% Viura, 22% Malvasía, 20% Tempranillo Blanco, 20% Torrontés and 8% Garnacha Blanca. It's super balanced, serious and austere, clean and precise, with a focused palate that combines power and elegance and very tasty flavors. It has 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.37 and 5.12 grams of acidity. 5,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2024.
