Fulcro is a rising star in Rías Baixas, led by winemaker Berto Añón, whose minimalist approach and dedication to site expression have earned critical acclaim. “O Equilibrio” is his flagship Albariño from schist-rich, south-facing vineyards in Salnés. Fermented and aged in used oak, this wine combines precision with power: tangerine peel, crushed herbs, floral lift, and saline drive. The 2021 vintage stands out for its piercing freshness and length, with no malolactic fermentation and a full year on lees. Only 8,500 bottles made—this is artisanal Albariño at its peak.

Review:I love the nose of the 2021 O Equilibrio, elegant and complex, with notes of tangerine peel, flowers and herbs. They use Albariño from schist soils, all from the south-facing vineyards. The destemmed grapes are pressed (like in all their wines), the juice let to settle and then put to fermented in used oak containers of different sizes, most of them 700 liters, where the wine matured for almost one year. It has moderate alcohol, 12.5%, vibrant acidity and great freshness; in general, they don't do malolactic, and this year it has some nine grams of acidity. It's harmonious, subtle, elegant but very intense, pungent and long. This should age nicely in bottle. 8,500 bottles were produced. It was bottled in August 2022. They are increasing quantity and also quality, quite remarkable. Great value for the money too.
